Yes, Congressman Steve Stockman of Texas tweeted this new campaign bumper sticker yesterday.
There’s not enough side-eye in the WHOLE WORLD for this.
That’s a joke right? This is a joke.
FOR FUCK’S SAKE. I LEGIT JOKED ON MY RADIO SHOW THAT I WAS GOING TO USE MY UTERUS FOR CONCEALED CARRY SO WYOMING ANTI-CHOICERS WOULD LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE.
I JOKED ABOUT ARMING FETUSES.
AND NOW IT’S A REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN STICKER.
An anti-choice graphic.
What are they even trying to say here? I don’t know.
Its not your body. Its a seperate body with its own limbs organs and DNA. Its not you! It was your body when you chose to spread your legs and it was your body when you chose not to protect yourself and it was still your body when you chose not to get the morning after pill if you were raped or made a mistake. Were all those oppurtunities not enough for you?
Deny people the morning after pill.
Shame them for not using the morning after pill.
Sometimes I’ll post things just because they are silly.
Twitter user @bostonhibernian is just weird sometimes.
Inception was a great film and all but I dunno if I’d consider it the start of my life. =/
(EDIT: Oh no. I forgot the screenshot of that second one. Oh well.)
Republican presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) proposed a bill on Thursday that would force women in the early stages of pregnancy to have a physically invasive and medically unnecessary ultrasound procedure before they can legally consent to having an abortion.
The “Heartbeat Informed Consent Act” requires doctors to make the fetal heartbeat visible and audible to the woman prior to the abortion procedure and to describe the ultrasound image to her in detail, even if she prefers not to hear about it. If the woman is between four and five weeks pregnant, the doctor has to perform a “transvaginal ultrasound” in order to hear the heartbeat, which involves a probe and can be physically uncomfortable for the woman.
So, Michele, let me get this straight, a mandatory HPV shot for girls in Texas is invasive and unlawful, but forcing an actually invasive ultrasound procedure and emotional trauma on a woman isn’t? God damnit I cannot wait for you to be out of my life, forever.
Hypocrisy on this level is not exactly surprising, but it is still pretty hilarious.
It’s hilarious in that it’s so absurd, but the assumptions about women* are absolutely disgusting. And acting on these assumptions causes people genuine harm.
*including the assumption that pregnant people are all women
Sometimes people get angry and make asses of themselves. I won’t pretend I’m not one of them, but this stuff is just… sad.
The same tweeter who wished death on someone has said some really asinine things.
I asked her how she justified calling women* whores when she had no idea how they got pregnant. What about rape victims? She backpedaled but did not apologize. She said that rape and incest make up 1-7% of abortion patients. So I guess she thought it was fair to lump them in and judge them too. I asked about monogamous women. She said it’s their fault for having premarital sex. I asked about married women. She said it’s their fault for having sex without being ready to have a baby. I tried to explain why this doesn’t make sense. Nothing yet. No explanation or apology for this insult.
If she ever replies** I’m going to ask how using birth control is not “controlling one’s fertility”.
*She was talking about women so I went with it. Mentioning transmen and non-binary folks was just gonna take her off topic. =(
**Probably right after hell freezes over.
But here comes the really-just-silly part:
That would involve abortion.
She looks her fetuses in the face everyday. Yeah…
This is just… I don’t even know.
This would be hilarious if it wasn’t coming from the same person who thinks that shooting people who had abortions is totally “meh”.

HA! There are more, too.
Yes. That is a real tweet.
It is a shame that scientists kill such gifts. From the moment of conception they are ALIVE! I’m Pro-life!!!!!
Scientists kill them?
ALIVE? So are sperm, trees, cows, bacteria. Animals are actually conscious and can feel pain, too.
Also, why is this magical talking fetus singing happy BIRTHday? BIRTHBIRTHBIRTH
Oh, and that picture? Not a living fetus. It’s a dead one. More specifically, it’s an aborted fetus. They really need to stop posting this particular set of photos as an example of living fetuses.
Today is the anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut, the U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized contraception. It’s also the fourth anniversary of when American Life League began their “The Pill Kills” day.
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that they chose to protest birth control on the anniversary of day that it became legal, right? It’s not like we’ve seen pro-lifers advocate outlawing birth control before, right?
The first The Pill Kills day was about the (false) claim that the birth control pill causes abortions and was held on June 7th, 2008. Since then, every other day of protesting the pill falls very near to the 7th. Frankly, it’s unsurprising that people who want abortion criminalized and believe that birth control causes abortion would want to make birth control illegal as well. They can’t exactly just come straight out and say this, however, because it’s an obviously radical and unpopular position to take. But they can work to erode support for contraception by holding protests like this. It’s the same as how politicians are trying to strip away funding for contraception by claiming that Planned Parenthood uses those funds to provide abortion. If they can get people to think that the pill is bad then maybe they can get to the point where criminalizing it might be a possibility.
And This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things! Because the pro-life movement continues to ignore or oppose common-sense solutions like contraception. Both sides can be happy with the goal of reducing unintended pregnancy. The result is less abortions without anyone being coerced out of getting them.
Anyway, their most recent anti-contraception day occurred on the 4th (I missed it!) and claimed that the pill ruins marriages. Have fun with that one. I’m not touching it for now. Instead, here are some links:
ThePillKills.org - Here it is.
yeah, i thought it was a joke, too.
I. Am. Disgusted.
I’m sorry - what’s that then? That literally makes me want to throw up in disgust and then throw up again in anger. And then throw my computer against the wall. And then introduce my head to my desk.
There is NOTHING compassionate about these righteous assholes. NOTHING.
Fuck everything. I quit. The fuck is wrong with these people. I literally want to punch something.
Scumbags of the highest degree.
The shit of the earth, these “people.”
Here’s the number to Personhood if you want to blow up their phones and tell them what shit they are: 202-595-3500
My jaw would drop had I not heard this before.
My blood is still boiling.
Listen, folks. Just listen.
If you refuse to condemn conception by rape as wrong and horrible, you are basically excusing—possibly promoting—rape. And that is exactly what these people are doing. Saying that rape is part of God’s plan, that pregnancy by rape is a positive outcome, or that condemning pregnancy by rape is wrong because it hurts the feelings of people conceived by rape is defending it as okay.
Yeah, if your mom had an abortion you would have never been born. You know what else would have resulted in you not being born? Your mother not being raped! Your little existential crisis is not more important than the fact that rape and forced pregnancy are horrifying.
Satirical newspaper The Onion recently ran an (obviously fake and satirical) article that had pro-choicers saying it was only a matter of time before pro-lifers claimed that it was real.
A lot of angry pro-life people seem to think it’s real.
With the way that many anti-abortion extremists and a few otherwise reasonable people talk about Planned Parenthood it’s hardly surprising that people would believe this article was serious. If I had a nickel for every time I saw a pro-lifer claim that Planned Parenthood makes billions and billions of dollars from abortion then I’d probably be a billionaire by now! Trying to explain to people that Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization and that they do not use their public funds for abortion-related services is very, very difficult with the amount of misinformation going on right now.
….Anyway, on a lighter note, someone has made a Yelp page for the nonexistent abortionplex. Feel free to share your experiences there ;D
Not completely sure what point they’re trying to make, but I’m sure it’s funny.
My doctor did this once.
Then he gave me medication to make it die.
He called it an antibiotic. Turns out that word even means that it’s against life.
Just think of the heartless genocide of all of those innocent bacteria. They never had a chance. They couldn’t fight back. They were living things inside of me that I had an existing relationship with. The doctor never offered me a chance to look at them or told me that they were living beings with unique DNA or explained exactly what the medication would do to them. If he did I might have chosen differently.
It’s a shame that nobody was outside that clinic protesting that day with signs or literature. Nobody yelled at me or begged me to stop. Maybe I would have listened to them.
(It was actually on my cervix. Maybe it was in my uterus too. I’m not sure.)
PS: It was government funded, too. The government payed him to destroy millions of lives.
Why do you guys think that this makes any sense whatsoever? What are you even trying to argue? Do you think we’re so simple-minded as to stop abortion if the fetus was female? Do you think it’s okay to force a woman to have a baby as long as the baby will be female? Had you ever considered the possibility that this means you could be forcing that baby to have a baby when she grows up? It doesn’t make any sense.
Really, lifers. Stop making this argument. We are just going to laugh at you every time you do.
Thanks to onmostsurfaces for taking on this absurdity.
