Antichoice submission

I’m sure that Greg had only the best intentions when he tried to advise someone to stop taking birth control.

So. I had the misfortune of coming across the Twitter of SohlUSA. And oh my, was it unfortunate.

Slut shaming! How original!

Comparing abortion to actual human rights atrocities! How utterly insensitive and disrespectful! (Seriously, how do some anti-choice groups think that comparing…

These are just awful.

pantslessprogressive:

“The Life Zone”, a “pro-life”, anti-choice horror flick written and produced by NJ state senate candidate Kenneth del Vecchio, premiered at the Hoboken International Film Festival on June 6.
“The Life Zone” is a film about three women who are kidnapped from an abortion clinic and forced to birth their children. During their captivity, their kidnapper - who is also a doctor - occasionally appears to talk to the women about the “consequences of their disobedience.”
More on the plot from the Jersey Journal:

The pregnant women are often tortured by dreams of death and despair - montages of swarming bees, swirling tornadoes and speeches by Hitler one night, African-Americans and foreigners shouting “abort me” in foreign tongues the next - while Dr. Wise experiences flashbacks to the dissolution of her marriage which fell apart when she learned she couldn’t bear children. Her parents cursed her for not taking better care of her body, a poor diet, too much work, while her husband - The Karate Kid’s bad sensei Martin Kove - divorces her, leaving her for a woman capable of having his children, a moment that pushes Dr. Wise to desperate measures.

The “twisting ending” (spoiler alert) reveals that the women have been in Purgatory all along; they all died on the operation table at the abortion clinic:

[…] Because Staci attempted to miscarry even after a second chance at motherhood, and because she never accepted the error of her ways until she experienced the physical joy of giving birth, of seeing her children for the first time, she will be doomed to eternity in Hell.
Loggia is Satan and he informs Staci she will spend all eternity in a cycle of pregnancy and childbirth and Dr. Wise will forever be her doctor, as the movie’s final twist plays out: Wise too will spend eternity in Hell. She was so weak she committed suicide when her marriage collapsed and must suffer the fate of forever bringing life into the world, endlessly having to appreciate what she did not value on Earth.

Although the film’s press releases claims the movie covers both sides of the abortion debate, I’d argue the fate of the female characters solidifies the degradingly anti-choice, women-shaming stance of this film.

Just when I think I can’t be any more shocked.
…I can honestly say that this is the most blatantly sexist thing I’ve ever seen from the anti-abortion movement. It’s so hateful. It’s just… sick. I mean, they’re not even trying to hide the fact that they think forced unwanted pregnancy and childbirth should be punishment for not accepting the role of mother.

yeah, i thought it was a joke, too.

I. Am. Disgusted.

I’m sorry - what’s that then?  That literally makes me want to throw up in disgust and then throw up again in anger.  And then throw my computer against the wall.  And then introduce my head to my desk.

There is NOTHING compassionate about these righteous assholes.  NOTHING.

Fuck everything. I quit. The fuck is wrong with these people. I literally want to punch something.

WHAT

Scumbags of the highest degree.

The shit of the earth, these “people.”

Here’s the number to Personhood if you want to blow up their phones and tell them what shit they are: 202-595-3500

My jaw would drop had I not heard this before.

My blood is still boiling.

Listen, folks. Just listen.

If you refuse to condemn conception by rape as wrong and horrible, you are basically excusing—possibly promoting—rape. And that is exactly what these people are doing. Saying that rape is part of God’s plan, that pregnancy by rape is a positive outcome, or that condemning pregnancy by rape is wrong because it hurts the feelings of people conceived by rape is defending it as okay.

Yeah, if your mom had an abortion you would have never been born. You know what else would have resulted in you not being born? Your mother not being raped! Your little existential crisis is not more important than the fact that rape and forced pregnancy are horrifying.

Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) pleaded with lawmakers Wednesday to support his anti-abortion legislation.

Someday I truly believe future generations of Americans will look back on us, especially policymakers, and wonder how and why such a rich and seemingly enlightened society, so blessed and endowed with the capacity to protect vulnerable human life could have insisted and instead aggressively promoted death to children and the exploitation of their moms.

They will note with deep sadness, some of our politicians, while they talked about human rights, never lifted a finger to protect the most persecuted minority in the world: the child in the womb.

Back and vote for H.R. 3, ‘The No Taxpayer Money for Abortion Act.’

FUCK YOU, CHRIS SMITH.  FUCK YOU AND ALL YOUR RICH WHITE DUDE PRIVILEGE.

Seriously? You really want to claim this? Since when does the fetus become a protected minority? This, from a guy who urged the UN to reject an application from the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, which has been trying since 2007 to win accreditation from the United Nations, allowing them to have a voice at the international body.

Two Republican congressmen are urging other countries - including, potentially, some where homosexuality is a crime punishable by death - to vote against an American-led effort in the U.N. to recognize a respected international gay rights group….Reps. Chris Smith (NJ) and Trent Franks (AZ), have written a letter, obtained by TPMmuckraker, to the many of the other countries on the council urging them to vote against the resolution.

They claim that the LGBT rights group is a threat to human rights, including freedom of religion.

“Serious questions regarding the IGLHRC’s support for the internationally recognized rights to freedom of religion and freedom of expression remain outstanding in the NGO Committee. Consequently, a forced, premature action by the [council] to approve the IGLHRC would potentially undermine these important rights,” they wrote.

Hypocrite.

Absolutely.

she-had-an-abortion:

I keep my posts as questions so people can tell me: I should get the death penalty. I should be shot, mutilated, beaten, and burnt.

All these comments do is prove how anti-life many pro-lifers are.

I do not regret my abortion and soon I will post my entire story in pieces. And continue to explain why I don’t regret it and how I look forward to having kids oneday soon.

Everytime they post I should die, they’re saying all women who have abortions should die. We’re millions of women who made a hard choice. We don’t need to be ashamed because we have each other.

I will gladly take all the hate of it gives other women the courage to come forward and stop suffering in silence.

Pro-Lifers would spit in my face and they did when I aborted. But, if I’d regret it, they’d accept me with open arms and exploit me.

They emotionally terrorize women who abort. And with election campaigning looming they’re going to get vocal and hateful. In 2004 I felt all ads were aimed at me. I don’t want any other woman to feel that.

It took me years to finally come out to family and friends. It feels good.

Stay strong!

Had an abortion? @xalisae thinks you’re a monster. She’s also pretty “meh" about offing you.

Feminists For Life on Medical Exceptions

Feminists For Life argues that you don’t have to support a woman’s choice to protect herself from dying to support women’s rights.

Late-term abortions are never medically necessary. Emergency C-sections are often the medically appropriate response to save both mother and child. Viability at this stage of the child’s development is generally very good, especially with advances in neonatal care. Babies who weigh just under a pound are surviving!

As for first-trimester scenarios, most are to save the mother from ectopic (“out of place”) pregnancies, which typically occur in the Fallopian tube. Surgeries for ectopic pregnancies are not medically classified as abortions. Since the child has no chance of survival, and the mother can survive if the pregnancy is ended, we must do what we can to save her. To let both die would not be pro-life.

So:

1. Despite what those silly doctors and medical experts may say, late term abortions are never necessary to save a woman’s life.

2. Instead, doctors should provide emergency c-sections. Because removing a fetus that has no chance of surviving outside the womb is different from an abortion. Somehow.

3. Killing an embryo is wrong, unless you don’t call it an abortion.

When I, or people like me, are running the country, you’d better flee, because we will find you, we will try you, and we will execute you. I mean every word of it. I will make it part of my mission to see to it that they are tried and executed… If we’re going to have true reformation in America, it is because men once again, if I may use a worn out expression, have righteous testoserone flowing through their veins. They are not afraid of contempt for their contemporaries. They are not even here to get along. They are here to take over… Somebody like Susan Smith should be dead. She should be dead now. Some people will go, "Well how do you know God doesn’t have a wonderful plan for her life?" He does, it’s listed in the Bible. His plan for her is that she should be dead.

[Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, at the Aug 8, 1995 U.S. Taxpayers Alliance Banquet in Washington DC, talking about doctors who perform abortions and volunteer escorts]

Let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good…. If a Christian voted for Clinton, he sinned against God. It’s that simple…. Our goal is a Christian Nation… we have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don’t want equal time. We don’t want Pluralism. We want theocracy. Theocracy means God rules. I’ve got a hot flash. God rules.

[Randall Terry, Head of Operation Rescue, from The News Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Aug 15, 1993]

Mr. Terry asks that his followers embrace hatred and intolerance. It also seems that he is unfamiliar with the first amendment.

Jill Stanek would like to punch a Planned Parenthood employee.

Stanek Sunday funnies 2-27-11

Here were my top 5 favs for the week. Excepting the liberal bias in this first one, I like the Black-Eyed PP…

Why did she single out the female Planned Parenthood worker? Well, she has said before that slapping your wife upon finding out that she had an abortion without your permission is “the reaction of a real man”. (If I haven’t posted that little gem yet it’s because it’s queued)

But no, no, no, let’s not overreact and say it’s because she thinks violence against women is cool. It’s probably because she’s pro-life and hates all those other people being metaphorically punched much less. …Which is why the other comics criticize unions and similar things… Uh…

Jill Filipovic at Feministe also points out that Jill Stanek has expressed admiration for a fictional serial killer because his opposition to abortion is “a redeeming quality. Check out her post on it here.

Angie Jackson is a blogger/vlogger who speaks openly about her life and many issues that are important to her. Last year, she decided to speak openly about the abortion procedure she was having. She was not treated kindly by anti-abortion commentors.

The Frisky: You’ve gotten a lot of press in the past few days, not just on The Frisky, but also Salon.com, Drudge Report and ABC News. What has the reaction from people been?

Angie Jackson: I’ve been astonished. I had imagined, naively, that people would accept it because I’m in a committed relationship. I was monogamous. I was using protection. I had a kid. I have health risks. We paid for this out of pocket and not out of any taxpayer means. If I can’t talk about my first trimester abortion, which was legal and in my case life-saving, then who the hell can talk about her abortion? Or his abortion story, from the women he was with?  … I’ve just been astonished by the level of hatred and death threats and threats of violence against my son. It’s been a very ugly side of people to see.

The Frisky: Death threats?

Angie Jackson: In the YouTube comments. A lot of them are sort of these throwaway statements in the comments of conservative blog and things like that. “Someone should put a bullet in her,” or “If the whore can’t keep her legs closed …” People have threatened to call Child Protective Services and take [my son] away from me because [of the abortion]. They’re either calling me a killer or calling me a monster, which is their right, but … I think we need to say quality of life matters. I don’t think an embryo gets to trump the life of my live son. I see this as risking my life.
